1. What is the main role of AERA
To provide assurance for the adequate protection of people and the environment in the present and future generations against the harmful effects of ionizing radiation.
2. What We Regulate
AERA regulates activities and practices involving radiation sources,nuclear and radioactive materials. These include naturally occurring radioactive materials (NORM) facilities, medical facilities, academic and research institutions utilizing nuclear technology, construction and manufacturing companies and other industrial facilities using radiations sources.
National Training Course on Basic Concepts of Medical Exposure and Regulatory Oversight of Radiotherapy Facilities Using LINACs
The Atomic Energy Regulatory Authority (AERA) successfully conducted a National Training Course on Basic Concepts of Medical Exposure and Regulatory Oversight of Radiotherapy Facilities Using LINACs from May 27th to June 7th, 2024. The training took place in Lilongwe at AERA's office.
